{"id":1349,"date":"2023-12-13T15:56:06","date_gmt":"2023-12-13T14:56:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jeantet.com\/?post_type=savoirfaire&#038;p=1349"},"modified":"2023-12-13T15:56:08","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T14:56:08","slug":"rubber-compound-tests","status":"publish","type":"savoirfaire","link":"https:\/\/www.jeantet.com\/en\/know-how\/rubber-compound-tests\/","title":{"rendered":"RUBBER COMPOUND TESTS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>All the rubber compounds produced are checked in our laboratory using various industry-standard tests :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>rheometry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hardness (shore A, IRHD, micro-hardness)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dynamometric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ageing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rheometry<\/strong> : This test measures the <strong>mechanical properties<\/strong> of a rubber sample as it is deformed over a range of stress, strain, time, and temperature. It can either apply stress (<em>force<\/em>) and measure strain (<em>displacement<\/em>), or apply strain and measure stress. This type of testing determines the modulus of the material (<em>stress\/strain<\/em>) and controls the frequency (<em>time<\/em>) of the deformation to measure viscoelastic properties of the rubber mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hardness<\/strong> (<em>Shore A<\/em>, <em>IRHD<\/em>, <em>Micro-hardness<\/em>) : The hardness of a rubber describes how firm or soft the material is. The hardness of an elastomer is usually determined using the <strong>Shore Hardness Scales<\/strong> or the <strong>International Rubber Hardness Degree<\/strong> (<em>IRHD<\/em>) scale. On all scales, a higher number indicates a harder material. The <strong>Shore hardness of rubber<\/strong> is measured with a spring-loaded indentation device known as a <strong>Shore durometer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dynamometric<\/strong> : This term is about the measuring of force or power. In the context of rubber compound testing, it refers to a variety of tests that control the force applied by the rubber mix under various conditions. For instance, a <strong>dynamometer<\/strong> might be used to measure the tensile strength or elongation of a rubber sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ageing<\/strong> : <em>Ageing tests for rubber<\/em> are used to evaluate how vulcanized rubber products respond to exposure to certain conditions over time. A popular standardized test procedure for heat aging is <em>ISO 188<\/em> : <em>Accelerated ageing and heat resistance tests<\/em>. The test is conducted on dumbbell-shaped specimens, which are placed in an oven and exposed to a prescribed temperature for a prescribed interval, usually three, seven, or 14 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the requirements of the specifications, we carry out all the checks on the moulded parts :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Cross-linking inspection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-contact computerised geometric inspection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>100% optical control on certain productions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We ensure complete traceability of raw materials, mixtures, inserts and parts, as well as production parameters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>JEANTET elastomer has the resources to carry out expert assessments of defects in parts or materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional tests can be carried out in external laboratories if required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-&gt; See also : Certificates<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All the rubber compounds produced are checked in our laboratory using various industry-standard tests : Rheometry : This test measures the mechanical properties of a rubber sample as it is deformed over a range of stress, strain, time, and temperature.
